The power of small miracles, in the movie, “Michael,” John Travolta portrays Michael the Archangel on his final mission. When asked of his accomplishments he boasts of his specialty, “small miracles.” He further explains how his invention of “waiting in line” resolved centuries of disputes and chaos. So often in my work with organizations our quest for reach and big impacts overshadow the joy in small accomplishments. The modesty of working each day to make life and work better for others may be small to us but adds up to be transformative when coupled with the efforts of others. A small improvement in a process, a program, a product may add to the achievements of others advancing human understanding. It is fun to swing for the fence when we can but celebrating the beauty of progress short of perfection keeps us real. -David Ramey
