In the 60’s singer songwriter John Lennon, himself a victim of gun violence, left us a simple song/ manifesto, “ all we are saying is give peace a chance.”

Is it that simple? I believe the answer is yes.

5 minutes of news today at any level, local, state, national, international gives one a dizzying headache of vilification and violent headlines. A community’s efforts to welcome needed and legal workers in Ohio ought to make us cheer for them in their pursuit of a peaceful community. Just what if every one of us looked inward and forward and first uttered “ GIVE PEACE A CHANCE “ before we spoke or acted. What if every parent, coworker, family member, friend, police officer, politician, clergy, salesperson, student , teacher could master this phrase before engaging in the next step. We could do no worse. A phrase yet a dramatic shift in tone and mindfulness could make a world of difference for a different world.
