I love the Magi (wise ones) story in the Christmas narrative most of all. They had the courage to leave the comfort zone of their kingdoms and lives to find and follow something truly meaningful. They came from the East. They were foreigners from the non dominant culture but the first to find and worship the truth.  They were learned and could read the stars. They were humble enough to look up to the heavens for guidance on their journey not just below or straight ahead. They were wise enough to go home another way despite being instructed otherwise for ill purposes. Their gifts displayed a deep understanding of the real challenges of life ahead for the child. May our journeys be so well conceived.
