A BLESSED RAGE FOR ORDER- In 1988 David Tracey published a remarkably thoughtful book on the groaning of creation for A Blessed Rage for Order. He called for a thought and time to absorb and understand the powerful evolution of human consciousness to find a new social and spiritual pluralism.
How can contradictory forces in society coexist as we sort through the chaos to find a new path of acceptance and social cohesion? This image was perhaps ahead of its time as we sort through what seems a global social struggle and polarization in equity, the environment, economic progress, political tolerance, social justice and even the survival of humanity itself.
It is all too easy to retreat in our comfortable tribes of liberal, conservative, activist, contemplative, or to just opt out. God is in the struggle to find the next oasis of human cohesion and solidarity. Living beyond judgment and labels towards one another is a first step. We are all part of the journey to find the human path for freedom, prosperity, dignity and justice. We cannot fail in this our common destiny to become all we were meant to be as children of a gracious God.
