Perhaps my most favorite movie of all times is “A River Runs Through It .”
I find it as intended a beautiful metaphor about life. Upon losing his youngest son the minister (Tom Skerrit) eulogizes him with the imperative that we are called to love perfectly (completely) despite the imperfections in ourselves and others.
When you think about it, to me this is the most profound capacity we have as humans and the surest testament of a loving God. In my work, family and personal life, I have tried to adhere to this principle often imperfectly. Whether a difficult client,or adverse circumstance or moment, I can choose to respond in love perfectly. Easy? no! Hard?, yes exceedingly. Possible? always. What a difference it makes! Gratitude and optimism are the surest result.
