Meet Ken Herr

ken-herrKen Herr is Vice President for Shared Business Services with Strategic Leadership Associates specializing in Strategic Growth Management, Market Growth Strategy and management coaching. He received a B.A. in Education from Miami University and a Master’s Degree in Executive Management from Ashland University. He formerly served as Vice President for Marketing Services at Strategic Leadership Associates.Ken assists organizations define growth and leadership opportunities using the 3 Simple Practices™ process he developed over his career. The 3 Simple Practices™ utilizes the elements of focus, consistency and accountability to achieve the expected success.Ken’s career within the consulting and construction industry has provided him a wide range of experience in sales, sales management, marketing, promotion, planning, recruitment, assessment and research. He has been responsible for creating and managing successful local, state, regional and national marketing and promotion programs. Ken also led advocacy initiatives with local, state and national legislative delegations and government agencies.

He most recently retired as the Vice President-Corporate Development for Shook Construction, a large regional construction company, headquartered in Dayton, Ohio. He led the entire business development function for the company’s 11-state market area that includes five specific market channels that saw annual sales grow from $143 million to over $230 million in the worst economy since the Great Depression. Ken also worked with the company’s CEO to manage the execution of the firm’s strategic plan comprised of 12 teams working on over 140 individual action items.

A writer, lecturer, coach and teacher, Ken is also active in his community. He serves as a mentor to minority-owned companies, is an advisory board member for three small business CEOs and a board member for three charities that collectively award over $2 million in grants per year. He serves on a number of committees, including the Minority Business Partnership Purchasing Roundtable and the Economic Development Committee for the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. He has held and continues to hold leadership positions for a number of development, trade associations and civic groups.
